Thank you for looking into renting a camping van from Oahu Camping Vans. We are fairly open one month in advance.
Our rates are 99 dollars per day plus taxes(about $12). We offer a weekly discount of 100 dollars and anything over three weeks we offer a 150 dollar per week discount!
There is a three day minimum rental. Reservation / security deposit is 200 dollars and payable through paypal.com to oahucampingvans@gmail.com. Best to confirm your dates are available before booking. The deposit is returned after the van is returned and inspected.
If you can't provide proof of full coverage insurance that will extend to a rental in Hawaii let us know and we can talk about options.
We currently have 4 VW Westfalia camper vans and they are available on a first come first serve basis. Usually the aircooled 1978 westy is the last one rented out unless it is specifically requested. The other ones are as follows 1987 westy, 1986 westy, and a 1980 westy upgraded with a 2.1 liter and power steering. All the vans drive well and have gas engines and standard transmissions.
The vans have the front facing pop tops that open up for a 2nd bed. They can accomidate 4 adults. Each campers has 2 burner propane stoves, sink for washing, and cubboards with cooking and eating utensils, and a coffemaker. The refrigerator is supplemented with a cool box due to troublesome westy fridges. We also provide mapsand guidebooks. (http://frankosmaps.com/Oahu_Guide_Map.htm)
Airport pick up (and drop off) is available and recommended, it's $40 each way. You will be picked up in your new home and taken back to our place in Kailua on the winward side where you can begin your adventure towards the north shore or enjoy the very lovely beaches close by. Once your time camping is pau, meet up in Kailua and we will drop you back off at the airport or Waikiki. It's about a half hour drive to the airport. Shuttles and taxis are about 60 dollars the bus is 2.50 dollars. Using TheBus is a transfer in Honolulu at Alakea St. don't bring much more than 2 carry-ons or they won't let you on the bus. The bus stop is upstairs at the airport and transfer at Alakea St. to bus# 56 to Kailua. In Kailua, after you turn right onto Oneawa St. you get off about 10 blocks later, my house is at 915 Oneawa (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Kailua&state=HI&address=915+Oneawa), before the short bridge over the canal.
Oahu has a variety of lovely campsites to choose from. The one that we recommend the most is Friends of Malaekahana. Check out our website for links to camp sites.(
. Call ahead to reserve a spot because they tend to fill up in the winter months. They are located right on the beach very close to the beginning of the North Shore in Kahuku and open all week including Wednesdays and Thursdays when most other sites are closed for maintenance.
We also recommend Camp Mokuleia, which is open every day for camping too. It is located on the beach at the end of the North Shore. Thank you and give us a call if you'd like to talk 808-479 1839 or book your reservation by using paypal today!
